Agreed text of the draft statement, finalized by the Committee on implementation of the Resolution “On resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding Euro-integrational aspirations of Ukraine” No. 28-VII, was supported by 15 out of 16 Committee’s members yesterday.
“Our today’s decision testifies to the support of Ukraine’s Euro-integrational aspirations by the majority of parliamentary political forces,” stated the Chairman of the Committee Hryhoriy Nemyrya.
“I hope tomorrow Ukrainian Parliament will support the statement by the constitutional majority and, thus, demonstrate inside the country and beyond its borders that we are on our way to the European Union, ready to take any necessary moves,” he stressed.
The Chairman of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski, who participated in the meeting, noted that “this statement is very important and Brussels watches closely the process of its adoption”.
“It is high time for Ukraine to adopt it. This statement is the way to build trust, but the main issue lies in its implementation,” he stressed. Jan Tombinski stated also that “the less ambiguities the statement will contain, the more confidence there will be that Ukraine really wants to approach the EU.”
